10月17日讯18强赛第四轮，国足主场2-1击败印尼，迎来18强赛首胜。《新快报》撰文认为，“保平争胜”应该是国足下一轮客战巴林的基本战略目标。

对国足来说，下一轮客场挑战巴林队的比赛（11月14日）同样至关重要。自18强赛分组以来，国足的目标就是争取力压印尼队和巴林队，争取以C组第4名的成绩参加下一阶段的附加赛。正因为以小组前4为目标，所以国足还不至于在输掉前3场之后完全绝望。当然，这也意味着国足必须在下一轮拿到积分，即至少不能输给巴林队。也只有这样，国足才能保证自己不被竞争对手甩开。

巴林队在前四场比赛当中拿到5分，除了主场5球惨败日本队之外，其他几场比赛都有些出人意料，其中客场战胜澳大利亚队和逼平沙特队均属于爆冷，而主场面对印尼队则是在裁判的“照顾”之下第99分钟才艰难追平，由此可见巴林队的表现起伏很大。

而国足在客场面对巴林并非没有机会，但也面临着不少挑战。理智地看，“保平争胜”应该是国足下一轮的基本战略目标。
