“和科比一起打球很难，其中一点是外界的期待，第二点是大家都想看到我和科比组成新的OK组合，但我当时刚刚受了大伤，正应对伤病和心理问题，而且科比在前两年刚刚在总决赛击败了我们。

“当我知道我必须去湖人的时候就已经很生气了，没人知道我不想去湖人，因为我想击败湖人，我为什么要去一个击败了我的球队，我当时想去的是篮网，重新开始我的职业生涯。

“但我被送去了湖人，在那儿没能成功，随后我做出了生涯最情绪化的决定，离开了湖人，这个决定是不明智的。”霍华德说道。

霍华德还透露，他在离开魔术的那个夏天做完背部手术后，本来预计是要休战一整年的，但仅仅4个月就复出了。
