NBA名宿“大鲨鱼”奥尼尔身穿路易斯安那州立大学老虎队的球衣来到现场，为母校加油助威。

1990年，18岁的奥尼尔进入路易斯安那州立大学的商业系，而且加入了校篮球代表队。他在LSU的篮球队时，取得了两次NCAA全美南部最佳球员。1990年12月3日，在对密西西比州立大学的赛事中，他取得了17个盖帽，打破NCAA单场盖帽纪录。
