电讯报表示，距离18年11月曼城案爆发已经快要6年，6年的诉讼有效期即将过期。因此，多家与曼城有竞争关系的俱乐部将立即采取行动向曼城索赔，而不是等待曼城与英超的仲裁结果。

前日曼城向其他19家俱乐部发送了一封爆炸性的电子邮件，声称英超联赛的调查结果是“不准确的”和“误导”。此后曼城与英超联赛之间的战争进一步升级。然而，竞争对手们对这封信感到震惊，指责曼城试图夺取对英超联赛的控制权。
