超过600名媒体记者报名报道本场比赛，综合各类因素考虑，足协通过审核确认了500名左右媒体记者的采访资格。其中，中国足协还曾协助60余名日本籍记者办理来华采访签证，这一数字已经逼近了2001年十强赛期间的国内记者报名采访人数。
